Beautifully photographed and very well-acted love story between two cowboys. The plot is a basic "Same Time Next Year" story, as Jack (Gyllenhall) and Ennis (Ledger) meet once or twice a year over nearly 20 years to conduct an affair behind the backs of their unsuspecting wives.
The character of Jack annoyed me, however, which detracted from the movie. He was needy and pushy and more than a bit selfish. Ledger shines as Ennis. A gorgeous film, but sad.
