Review of Brokeback Mountain (2005) by Ross P — 02 Mar 2013
A powerful drama that conveys complicated emotions. I think Brokeback Mountain is an example of excellent craftsmanship, it's all substance and the focus on the relationship between the central characters carries the film, there is no time wasted on unnecessary sub-plots.
In the end it's heartbreaking, we're drawn in and we care enough not to want to leave the world of film, we always expect a happy ending but when we're left without one it's hard to feel jubilant.
It's the journey that's important and we can feel satisfied that Ang Lee was able to bring us into the lives of these two fascinating characters who's love makes for a beautiful story.
