Review of Brokeback Mountain (2005) by Theodore H — 08 Jan 2014
This is an epic span over many years which entails love relationships in a very soap operatic sense, which is fine, I suppose in itself. Maybe it's because of Jake Gyllenhaal's annoying performance, maybe it's because of the un-lived-up-to hype, but I couldn't appreciate Williams' and Hathaway's and Ledger's always-great performances amidst the disjointed melodrama.
I will add, though, that it has some beautiful visuals and that it has a very moving ending (a poignant end to a not-great film)...
