Review of Broadcast News (1987) by John A — 18 Jun 2010
Network-lite. It's pleasant enough, and not painful to watch at all. Even genuinely funny in several places--especially Albert Brooks. But Network's critique of the media is so much more incisive and interesting and daring than what we find here.
And since Network came out a decade before this, I can't help but see this as a kind of watered down version of the earlier film. All that said, Joan Cusack's run with the tape was definitely worth my time.
