More focused and interesting than as good as it gets, with 3 very good performances, 3.5 cuz nicholson was perfectly cast in his small role. Brooks role also seems like it was written for him. Hurt and Hunter are both good.

The only thing is that near the end, some characters make some questionable and flat out mean actions, some seem to go against their character and even defy common sense. Still a well made film.
