Review of Bringing Up Baby (1938) by Brandon P — 06 Mar 2008
Crazy, dipsy, nutzoid Kartharine Hepburn, a tame leopard, and Cary Grant straight-laced professor sent spinning in circles in the hunt for these two girls and his dinosaur bone. There's something about the hyper-realistic, always cynical, modern method that deprives us these pleasures, only modern universe they're allowed is farce.
Maybe some is still in sitcoms, but what was the last memorable one of those? This isn't "vague reference" humor and it isn't poop humor. I think it stems from the freedom in the language.
We need to be challenged by verbal jokes, however hokey, to summon back these spirits.
