Review of Bringing Up Baby (1938) by Aubrey A — 16 Sep 2008
A commercial failure at the time of its release, temporarily killing Katharine Hepburn's career. This nails every screwball trick in the book with great execution and distractingly over-the-top performances from Cary Grant and Hepburn.
It also unfolds at a bizarrely relentless pace, and I sort of side with Howard Hawks in that it COULD have a little bit of breathing room.
