Review of Bringing Up Baby (1938) by Emely A — 03 Feb 2012
Wonderful screwball comedy ahead of its time. This is the cookiest romantic comedy I have ever seen and it still holds up. Howard Hawks made the perfect comedy film. The rapid-fire dialogue, the physical comedy, the chemistry is fantastic.
Absolutely perfect . Katharine Hepburn's Susan Vance is cray-cray and Cary Grant's David Huxley is not very sane either, the only character that acts like it should in the film is the leopard.
The premise is absurd, yes, but it is what makes it so fun and hilarious. Crazy, charming, sometimes absurd, exasperating and absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend it.
