Review of Bringing Up Baby (1938) by Bristol F — 06 Feb 2012
I cannot deny that Bringing Up Baby is a very funny screwball comedy classic with an amusing performance from Cary Grant, but my only little pick at this film was Katherine Hepburn. Of course she's the highlight of the film and she can be quite charming but goofy in a fashionably humorous sense which makes her likeable, however there are many times where I feel it went overboard with her "non-stop talking and not letting the other character speak" routine that often made me feel quite annoyed, hell I found myself saying "Just shut up!" to her at some parts.
So while the film runs this routine, with Hepburn and even several other characters, into the ground a little too much sometimes, it for the most part manages to keep on its feet and charm with well-written screwball humour.
