Review of Bringing Up Baby (1938) by Sharon D — 30 Dec 2009
One of my all-time favorite movies, starring two of of the silver screen's greatest stars in Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. An almost perfect screwball comedy, played for big laughs and bigger romance, this is a black and white feast for the eyes and ears.
Wonderful performances by the cast, including George, the terrier (played by Asta, the mutt in the Thin Man series) and Baby, the South American leopard who is a big fan of raw meat and "I can't give you anything but love, baby".
For those who remember Cary as a suave, sophisticated type, you should take a peek at Cary's wilder, scattier side in this film to truly appreciate his comic genius...and how great he looks in a peignoir!
