I'm a big fan of the late 30s/early 40s screwball comedies. The Mount Rushmore of these movies, to me anyway, are "It Happened One Night", "You Can't Take it with You", "His Girl Friday" and this one. The others are instant watch on Netflix, this one a snail mail, but it's worth the slot in your queue. If you liked any of the other three, you will undoubtedly like this one. If you haven't SEEN any of them, well, then you should be ashamed of yourself. How can you call yourself American? Snappy machine-gun dialogue, manic silly plot, love conquers all - what more do you want?

Katherine Hepburn bounces off the master of screwball comedy, Cary Grant, very nicely and Ed Everett Horton stands out among the fine supporting cast. My favorite line, from Cary Grant: "Now it isn't that I don't like you, Susan, because, after all, in moments of quiet, I'm strangely drawn toward you, but - well, there haven't been any quiet moments.".

Skip the latest Katherine Heigel/Jennifer Aniston/Kate Hudson debacle. Banish those vacuous hairdos from your queue and rent this to see how they're SUPPOSED to make rom-coms. 5 stars.
