Review of Bringing Out the Dead (1999) by Stephen T — 11 Aug 2012
As a former burnt out Emergency Room doctor I can verify that Schrader's vision is on the money. When you have been awake for 30-40 hours in a row reality gets blurry but the adrenaline and the training keeps you going.
And the human drama continues unconcerned with your state of fatigue. Bringing Out the Dead offers no real surprises to the initiated but Scorsese's visualization of it made me laugh and sigh with familiar memories.
