The one star is for Queen Latifah, the only colorful character in the movie. Steve Martin used to be a real funny guy, with classics such as The Jerk, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels etc, and as a stand up performer (f.i. Let's Get Small).
The movie itself is plain horrible, pitting a middle aged white man against a black woman and her friends. Stereotypical on the verge of being racist, but perhaps more an example of what happens when there is too much money in Hollywood and anybody can make movies. The really frightening thing is that this is supposed to be a comedy!
