Review of Bringing Down the House (2003) by Mike M — 22 Aug 2009
'Bringing down the House' is oh so very Hollywood. It's a very generic but extremely fun crowd pleasing comedy. It came as rather a pleasant surprise when I first watched it on cable about four years ago.
I never would have made any real effort to see it if I hadn't flicked onto it about ten minutes in on Movie One, before I knew it the credits were rolling. It doesn't really match the classic 80's Steve Martin comedies, such as 'The Jerk', 'Roxanne' and 'L.
A Story' but in his defense he is still really hilarious. Queen Latifah an absolute riot and the infamous catfight is worth the rental alone.
