Review of Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) by Daniel L — 14 Jun 2007
Want to know where John Woo came up with his slow-motion ballatic shoot outs? Look no further then in our own country, where Sam Pechinpaw pioneered 'the beautiful death'. The film is classic Peckinpah, where every one's a devil, anyone can draw a gun on the hero, and everyone (just about) dies.
Warren Oates reportedly based his performance off of the most noticable traits and mannerisms of the notoriously ill-mannered, paranoid and alcoholic Peckinpah. This is by far one of the grittiest, dirtiest films ever made.
You'll want to take a shower after you watch it. Actually, make that several. Dozen. Its one of Mr. Tarantino's favorites for a reason.
