Review of Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) by Alex H — 24 May 2008
I've never seen anything like this before. Sam Peckinpah clearly put his heart into making this, and when I say that, I mean that I wouldn't doubt that he stabbed himself in the heart with a knife and spread the blood all over every frame of the original negatives for this movie (as corny as that may sound, it's the best way I can describe it). it's a masterpiece for reasons that I can't quite explain.
It's like an expressionist painting in the form of a revisionist 70's western. It actually put a chill down my spine.
To add to that, it had fucking Warren Oates in it! And Kris Kristofferson with a cameo as a rapist!
