Review of Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) by Drew B — 27 May 2008
Sam Peckinpah is truly one of the master American filmmakers. Here he reaches a new low in terms of spiritual despair and violence. Warren Oates is note perfect as a man who has lost everything, and then loses again.
An even greater achievement is Peckinpah's total destruction of American mythology and his creation of a totally new landscape of the soul.
