Sam Peckinpah's masterpiece, and not without it's biographical aspects. Peckinpah had no idea during filming that Warren Oates was actually playing Sam playing the role of Benny. Oates even wore Sam's suit and sunglasses throughout the film.
The other thing that gets me about this movie is that I'm always 20 minutes into it watching what has all the hallmarks of a classic western, but then the fact they are chasing each other in old Chevys reminds me this is set in the 1970's.
