Review of Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) by Jono S — 24 Jun 2008
Warren Oates is the body to the head. See, Alfredo Garcia wins the prize; sure, he is dead, but his death preserves him as the one who pierced the warlord's daughter with his arrow, the same arrow that takes Oates' love and life away from him.
But Warren Oates can still drive, and drink, and shoot, and kill. And talk. Oh, can he talk. Those flies buzzing around the severed head are the words of a madman, driven further towards sanity by violence.
