Warren Oates' performance is perfect in this gem of the seventies. There are so many beautifully photographed scenes in Peckinpah's Mexican odyssey - especially the gloriously lingering picnic scene where we experience our hero's fleeting happy times before he loses it all.
Many memorable nods to "Treasure Of The Sierra Madre" including a dangerous encounter with a young and already grizzled Kris Kristofferson. This is a film that makes the viewer ponder their own journey as it unfolds, larger than life on the screen.
