You're not a man if you don't understand this movie. If you don't get the existential truth of a drunk talking to a severed head in a bag while he gets shot at all through Mexico, you still have growing up to do, which is akin to crippling failure.
It's what's called maturity. Warren Oates was great in this. Even at the very end when he even fails at being a hero.
