Review of Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) by Alun H — 19 Oct 2009
Saw this for the first time last night, a real cultish, pulpy bit of rubbish/genius. The first hour is a bit slow but when Alfredo Garcia 'turns up' it really gets rolling. Made in the heart of the 70's and being from Sam Peckinpah there are lots of people that get shot and the female lead is naked a lot.
Warren Oates is the 'hero,' on the hunt for the head and revenge and he's a very unique screen presence. Odd, trashy, violent, bonkers.
