Review of Bring It On: In It to Win It (2007) by Curt C — 10 Aug 2008
Apparently, the fourth movie in the "Bring It On" series. This is actually a cheerleader style "remake" of West Side Story, complete with Jets vs. Sharks, which by extension makes it the first ever Shakespearean remake starring cheerleaders.
You've got every possible stereotype present: goth girl, black girl, blond girl, gay guy, bitch girl. In addition to stereotyping, BIO4 is an assault on your intelligence as well; every "plot twist" can be seen coming a mile away. My friends were "amazed" by my ability to predict everything happening ('Are you SURE you haven't seen this movie before?').
That all being said, I have to give this two stars, due to venturing ever so deeply and faithfully into So Bad It's Good territory. Seriously, the "Shets" wins the award for Best Ever Name of a Cheerleading Team that Simultaneously Sounds Like a Bowel Movement. The Cheer Rumble, Truth Off, Cheer Off, this stuff is so horrible it is beyond hilarious. I kept pushing to watch more, until I finally had to ask "Ok, when can we leave?" The answer: not until after the butt smack scene.
Uhm, yeah, two stars for horribly good fun.
