Review of Brighton Rock (1948) by Jeff B — 08 Jan 2009
Cool British film noir starring a very young Richard Attenborough as a gang member who murders someboyd and does anything to keep it from surfacing. It's a little confusing at the beginning, but it picks up, especially when he meets Rose.
Attenborough is excellent, I wouldn't have expected him to be so cruel and cool in this. It's got some pretty great shots, I especially loved the scene at the top of the staircase, that shot of him standing below the reflection of the body on the floor was awesome.
Clever ending as well.
