Review of Brightburn (2019) by Squeakflea — 01 Jun 2019
I was expecting a little more, but this is a great movie. I can handle gore, and it definitely has its share, but I would have liked him to have a more bullied backstory. I think it would play as more real if he was severely bullied.
..had more of a traditional psychopathic breakdown, instead of a possession level personality change at twelve. I think it would be more interesting if the bullied kid found out he had superpowers. It needed more exposition.
I still find it hard to believe that both his parents try to kill him. I can’t imagine killing my son no matter what he did. But other than that, I think it is a far more realistic take on the superhero genre.
It’s unsettling and fun for the main character to be a young looking twelve.
