Review of Bright Young Things (2003) by Jason Y — 05 Mar 2005
DVD First Viewing, 1 Fry film seen.
Bright Young Things is a well-made satire about a group of horrible individuals. But the biggest problem with the film is that the characters have a little too much charisma. It is hard not to find a lot of them sort of charming in their self-interested ways. It's a shame that most period pieces are too arrogant to get across a decent story. Director Stepehen Fry should have used these guys to tell a regular story and used the actors from a performace of Howards End or Pride and Prejudice for tell this.
