Review of Bright Star (2009) by Ttt C — 28 Jan 2010
Beautifully mounted biopic that really pulls you into the time and place of the story. Abbie Cornish and Ben Whishaw give fantastic performances, as does Paul Schneider in the easily stereotyped role of the boorish best buddy.
The only thing that keeps this movie from being great is that its style is sometimes too staid to remain interesting and, well, it's kind of a downer. Still well worth a watch, though, especially for those of us who love poetry.
