Review of Bright Star (2009) by Tony — 05 Feb 2010
I'm not a poet, and I know it! I had to really hang in there to watch this movie to the end because director Jane Campion presents her characters (seen "Portrait of a Lady"?) in her usual cold and unconnectable way.
It's nearly impossible to have any empathy or see the love between Keats and Fanny UNTIL the last half hour, in which Abbie Cornish gave an emotionally powerful performance (?) demonstrating what it feels like when your heart is broken and your soul pierced.
So glad it's PG; it's rare to find a pure love story.
