Review of Bright Star (2009) by Ernest D — 12 Jan 2010
The trailer looks poetic. Jane Campion's unswervingly detailed, refined & delicate periodic exquisiteness. Beautiful cinematography. Campion's regular feminine text centered with a strong female character with such distinct initiative even though in this supposedly neutral love story.
I think the feature is somehow a little bit too calm, too reserved, & lack of sparkles (as always for Campion's projects). Paul Schneider, in this case, easily stands out among the ensemble cast.
