Review of Bright Star (2009) by Jérôme K — 18 Jan 2010
Solid acting, especially by Abbie Cornish and Ben Whishaw, in a movie that carries you along, although it's lenghty and nothing really happens. The movie's biggest quality is at the same time it's biggest flaw : the protagonists' romanticism and their seemingly unconditional vision of love define the movie and make it somehow worthwile seeing (for dreamers and overly romantic people in lack of inspiration), but in the end "too much goo, kills the goo" and you find yourself numb because of the emotional overkill, unable to enjoy the end of the movie properly.
