Review of Bright Star (2009) by Guillaume J — 19 Jan 2010
I find it almost impossible to watch a movie like this and not compare it to anything from the many worlds of Jane Austen. It was hard to not notice the lack of manners and also servants. but anyway. all that aside, though many of the shots were beautiful, and creative I wished that I felt more for the characters.
I did feel for them, but not as much as I thought there was potential to. The poetry was difficult for me to deal with. I don't appreciate or understand it so a lot of the dialogue was completely lost on me.
I admired the passion in the couple and their acting. really hated the ending. how sad! Though I really can't think of a better ending myself, it still left me asking myself "that's it?" and "what was the point of all that?" sad sad sad.
not a bad film though.
