OSCAR worthy!

Ben Whishaw & Abbie Cornish perfectly embody the characters of Keats and Fanny. The movie is slow paced, but if you like trembling sentimentalism, period drama and recited classic poetry, this is surely a piece of art for you. It's simple yet heart throbbing, delicate yet intense. Each stitch of an embroidery escorts a verse gallantly. Beautiful costumes, cinematography and score (a lot of Cello). Great direction by Campion, the pushing of the beds to the wall, the first kiss, and especially the last 2 minutes of the movie, where Abbie Cornish gives a stage-worthy performance reciting Keats poem:

Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art--.

Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night.

And watching, with eternal lids apart,.

Like nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,.

The moving waters at their priestlike task.

Of pure ablution round earth's human shores,.

Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask.

Of snow upon the mountains and the moors--.

No--yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,.

Pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,.

To feel for ever its soft fall and swell,.

Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,.

Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,.

And so live ever--or else swoon to death.

Ben Whishaws voice during the credits are sheer beauty, tender is the night......
