Review of Bright Star (2009) by Aniko V — 21 Feb 2010
A disappointment, really. I mean the pictures are beautiful (actually too beautiful at times), but the romance appears absolutely shallow. what else do I get to know other than these two people fell in love for some inexplicable reason (pretty much at first sight), and spent all their time gooing, and writing love letters.
then there's a similarly inexplicable break, inexplicable get-together again. I could just read the sentence 'fanny brawne and john keats fell in love,' then read a bunch of keats' poetry, and feel/ understand maybe even more than I do from this movie.
also, that little seamstress looks remarkably well-to-do as compared to her supposedly low social status...
