Review of Bright Star (2009) by Amanda Y — 10 Jul 2010
Naturally, the movie must be as poetic as the poet. Unfortunately for us Americans, poetry spoken with a British accent is sometimes difficult to make out, and I ended up not knowing what they were talking about sometimes.
That being said, it is nice to have a clean romance being made in the 21st century. Serious kudos for that. I just couldn't sit through this again for anything. I really wanted to like it, and it does have some wonderful photography that somehow captures the sensuality of the world, like a gentle breeze blowing in the window.
It was just far too depressing too much of the time. There was not enough to like, I'm afraid.
