Review of Bright Star (2009) by Sharon A — 11 Jul 2010
I wanted to see this at the theatre, and I must say I am glad I didn't now.
It was beautifully shot, in a style that Jane Campion does so well, and the costuming is stunning, I loved some of the clothes that Abbie Cornish's character got to wear, but I'm afraid, I did not like the character of Fanny.
At times she comes across as this uptight bitch, with a touch of the drama princess, and I'm afraid the romance aspect was rather wishy-washy.
A sweet kind of film, I must confess, I did long for the end, just for this film experience to be over.
Maybe if I was a fan of Keats work, or even knew it better, I would apriciate this film more.
It was good though, to see where the cute kid from Love actually is now, and how much he has grown. He played a rather nice character, even if he is mostly in the background.
