I shamefully see a lot more sex tension in costume drama than a lot of pseudoromantic (or quasiporn) garbage you see nowadays (perhaps I see a lot more than I should, but...): you need a lot of unspoken, wild, desire to upset me - after all, poets are geeks ante litteram.
Tarantino loved it, who am I to dissent?
