Review of Bright Star (2009) by Brock B — 26 Jul 2012
A romantic costume drama that offers some strong acting, pretty music score, and shows Jane Campion's remarkable directing skills, but unfortunately isn't able to astound with its rather dull and unimaginative storyline.
Although heartbreaking at times, I feel that it could've been much shorter. Maybe then, the true tragedy of this period tale would be more impressive. Still, probably the finest movie in the genre since Marie Antoinette.
