Critics are assholes. The problem seems to be they are watching it like they were expecting an Oscar contender with some kind of insightful message about social divides. This is a fun blocker buster set in a backdrop that is racially divided.
Definitely an enjoyable watch in an engaging world. The pace doesn't let up though and a slower sequel or follow up series could be really special if it involved more character development.
