Honestly I don't know why people are calling this a buddy cop movie they very much ARE NOT friends they are partners at best. The blatant racism shown to orcs and the parallels to what is going on today would have gone over better if they hadn't erased any other form of racism in the film. Can we stop using fantasy creatures as a stand In for the PoC experience please?
That being said I wish this had been a series and not a movie. I heard they are making a Bright 2, which is great, but if this had been a series it would have made everything flow better. As it is, the movie tries to cram a lot of world building information down the audiences throat. And I love a good alt. Earth ok but you have to feed it to us right.
However! I Loved this movie, problematic as it is, I'd love to give them another chance to really work everything out. Ive already watched it 3 times, and each time I see a lot of amazing new details that I missed. The set decoration Is amazing in this film. Good job.
