2,000 years after LOTR (the dark lord was beaten by the alliance of nine races), the elves remain, LA is still a Hellhole, and the Mexicans still get grief over the Alamo. It was a thoroughly enjoyable romp through a modern urban fantasy that was deeper than most I've seen.
There's some real tough scenes in there, and they do real good building a believable fantasy would.
