MGM intended for this adaptation of the Lerner & Loewe Broadway hit to be THE musical of 1954, but SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS stole its thunder; still, with Vincente Minnelli's direction and Gene Kelly's choreography, the film is charming and lovely.
Highlight: "The Heather on the Hill," expanded from the stage production to include a lengthy dance number for Kelly and Cyd Charisse.
