Review of Brief Interviews with Hideous Men (2009) by Craig T — 25 Dec 2009
Playing upon the frame work of a stage Brief Interviews flows tactful with spot on grace. Acting out monologue after another allows for the film to glide upon the mind like ice on polished marble. With ensemble work on an Altman par Interviews allows for the story to gain momentum continually in an otherwise word filled cluttery front.
The use of high minded literary dialogue would have only been made possible with this carefully execution of stop and go story telling. Krasinski in his directorial debut allows himself to remain force unseen in the constant clutter of wit and polished insight.
Brief Interviews as a whole in comparison with the literary ascendant executes a shallow delve into the oil ticking mind of the thought machine David Foster Wallace, (I am speaking from blind half sight seen) but as far as an adaptation goes it did one fine job.
