Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by Nick K — 24 Jul 2011
This film presents what was probably a controversial topic at the time, having an affair. It was interesting to see, unlike many modern movies about this topic, that amount of regret that Laura has because she knows what she is doing is wrong while at the same time seeing let lust for Alec.
I was wondering why the entire film was presented as it was with Laura pretending she was confessing to her husband, but at the very end with the last line it all comes together. Sometimes, even though it's wrong, it takes an experience like having a 'brief encounter' to fully appreciate what you have in life.
