Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by Daniel C — 28 Jun 2007
This is quite simply my all time favourite movie EVER, so I am probably biased in my praise of it. But it is a brilliant piece of cinema, with a good solid script by Noel Coward (my favourite writer)and supurb direction by David Lean (my favourite director).
It is touching, beautiful, dramatic, poignant, and both low-key and rich in texture at the same time. Wonderful performances too. I love every nuance of this film. Quite simply brilliant.
