Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by William C — 09 Nov 2008
A film that has positively no flaws. The Rachmaninoff score sweeps over the reserved characters giving off the emotions they do not always convey on their faces. The noirish quality: the constancy of dark colors, the narration over certain scenes, shadows, and a great deal of smoke all add great effect.
It's heartbreaking and fascinating. It shows that Love has no boundaries, and that affairs do not always start in the bedroom. The modern film could a learn a thing or two.
