Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by Maggie J — 30 Dec 2008
Just perfect. Acting, dialog, photography. The construction of the story as an eplaination to the husband only increass the poinency. The portrial of balancing duty to others, against one's own wishes, I don't believe has ever been bettered.
As a piece of period drama alone (the days before TV, the lack of cars, capturing that period just after the war) would make it worth seeing.Truely, one of the great films.
