Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by Adam C — 17 Dec 2009
What really made this film interesting is how tame the affair was. Today, this film would have to feature nudity, probably a simulated sex scene (or five) and there would have to be some problem... like a spouse finds out and inflicts violence.
But this film was made in 1945 in Britain and it's really tame.
Because it's based on a Noel Coward play, the movie is more about the story itself and the acting than any fancy film tricks. I guess that's what I liked about it. The story is intriguing -- probably because there are no 7 irons involved.
