Review of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004) by Patricia B — 30 Mar 2010
** (out of four).
Sometimes you can take an idea one step too far. That's one of the problems with "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason". It continues in the same vein as the first film, but the freshness and fun just isn't there this time.
Bridget (Renee Zellweger) is happily with the love of her life, Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth). But the new intern at his office is a leggy beauty and Bridget worries that she'll steal her man. On top of that her former boss (Hugh Grant) arrives back in the picture.
One of the biggest weaknesses this time is that the filmmakers must have felt that the zaniness of the first film is what they want to duplicate. So, when that is all you have, it just isn't very appealing.
