Review of Bridge of Spies (2015) by Daniel S — 28 Mar 2016
A big oscar movie that I missed in theaters. I never knew anything about the real James Donovan and the things he did. It ended up being more interesting than I thought it'd be, especially the first half that takes place in American and Abel's trial.
The second half when he goes to Berlin to coordinate the prisoner exchange isnt bad, it has some good scenes, but it gets a bit confusing with the soviets and germans and who wants what. Hanks is great, as charismatic and convincing as he's ever been.
I will say Rylance did not deserve that oscar, he's not bad by any means, but he's barely in it, completely gone in the 2nd half, Stallone should have won, but oh wells. Spielberg cant make a bad movie, and this is further proof.
