Review of Bridge of Spies (2015) by Robert C — 08 May 2016
Bridge of Spies is a watchable but routine movie that fails to inform about the huge ramifications of the U2 incident and impact on east west relations, i.e. to put peace talks back a long way and also to mark the downward path of Kruschev.
This film makes the events quite parochial and domestic. And why the high critics' acclaim - wiki makes clear that Spielberg (or writers or whoever) is lying in saying Powers was tortured by the russians while Abel was treated with respect - in fact Powers was well treated and spent much of his time in Russia knitting.
Do the critics really believe such a misleading film deserves 91%??
